There were two wheels mounted forward on the Bridge. The main wheel was enclosed in the Wheelhouse and was connected to the master control of the Brown’s Patent Telemotor. The wheel at this location was connected to a steering mechanism called a Telemotor. Since it would have been impossible to move the rudder of a huge ship like Titanic without some sort of mechanical assistance, a large and powerful steering engine at the stern turned the rudder; this steering engine was controlled by the Telemotor. The telemotor receives any signal from the bridge (By turning the steering wheel),and magnifies it,to operate the control lever on the main hydraulic pump which will deliver to the main actuating rams connected to the rudder. The telemotor on the Titanic's bridge is where Titanic's officers tried to avoid the iceberg.
